South Dublin County Council began the process of reviewing the County Development Plan 2004-2010 and preparing a new County Development Plan on 4th November 2008. The current County Development Plan runs to 2010 and the new Plan will cover the 6 year period 2010-2016. The new Plan is produced in the context of a Strategic Environmental Assessment process.
Current Stage:
Public Consultation on Proposed Amendments to the Draft County Development Plan 2010-2016 has now ended. The Planning Department will consider the issues raised and will present a Managers Report to the Elected Members at the end of July. Members will consider the Report and issue directions to the Planning Staff.

The Proposed Amendments to the Written Statement (incl errata sheet) and Maps of the Draft County Development Plan 2010-2016 and the accompanying Environmental Report and Appropriate Assessment on the likely significant effects on the environment of implementing the proposed amendments was on on display for public consultation from Thursday 3rd June 2010 to Friday 2nd July 2010
The Draft Development Plan and Environmental Report was made by the Members of the Council at special meetings held on 1st, 2nd, 8th and 9th September 2009 . The Draft Development Plan, Environmental Report and Development Plan Maps were on display for a 10 week public consultation period which ran from the 22nd September 2009 to the the 2nd December 2009. Future stages during 2010:
Manager prepares report within 8 weeks of public notice and submits it to the members
- Members consider Manager’s Report within 6 weeks
- Members make the Plan with or without amendment
- Public notice of making a Development Plan which has effect 4 weeks from the date it is made.
